Barkley joined Luton last summer on a two-year deal following their promotion to the Premier League in a bid to reignite his career.
After a steady start, Barkley went on to make 37 appearances for the Hatters, scoring five goals and providing six assists.
Among those were goals against Arsenal, Newcastle, Chelsea and Man City in performances that showed exactly what he’s capable of in the top tier.
Despite impressing, Barkley’s efforts weren’t enough to keep Luton in the Premier League as they prepare for life back in the EFL.
The 30-year-old still feels like he has his prime years ahead of him, though.
“I feel like for the next three years maybe I’ll still be in my prime years,” he told Sky Sports last month.
“I’m enjoying all the moments because I know over the last few years there’s been ups and downs, frustrations and great moments.
“And now I feel ready to be at my best, consistent, in a great place in my head as well.
I haven’t had a lot of mileage over the last few years in my legs, so I feel fresh.
I know it’s the last games of the season coming up – but I feel like it’s the start of the season.”
