Sad News Ever: Louisville Key Player die in a Car Cr….
Louisville football is trying to establish itself as one of the best teams in the ACC. Jeff Brohm, in his two seasons with the Cardinals, has done a remarkable job, going 19-8 with an ACC title appearance and a top-15 finish in his first season.
The Cardinals took a minor step back in 2024, going 9-4, but Brohm and his staff will look to once again compete for a conference title and a potential College Football Playoff berth in 2025.
Branch played at Louisville from 2000 to 2001 after transferring from Jones County Junior College. He helped lead the team to a Conference USA Championship in 2000 and was later named an All-Conference USA first-team selection. Overall, he finished his time at Louisville as a player with 143 catches for 2,204 yards and 18 touchdowns and is included in the Cardinals Ring of Honor.
Drafted by the New England Patriots in the second round, Branch became an integral part of the team’s dynasty. He won two Super Bowls while in New England and even earned the Super Bowl XXXIX MVP award, though he didn’t score a touchdown. He had 11 catches for 133 yards.
Louisville, known mainly for its high-powered offenses under Brohm, hopes that Branch can continue to add to the development of the unit in the upcoming season.
