Balmain legend Steve Roach was also asked about the magic of Leichhardt, explaining: “There’s something magical about this place.

“Only fitting yesterday they got $40 million to do the place up… a little bit of Keith Barnes magic sprinkled on the ground.”

The works will reportedly see new female changing rooms be built at the ageing ground, whilst a new northern grandstand will also be built.

The upgrades will see the ground’s current 20,000 capacity be increased by 3,000 spectators.
