Sad News From Wrexham Just Now!

The Wrexham Music Theatre Society (WMTS) made a bold statement with their first musical production in 17 years.

Cast members took to the stage at Grove Park Theatre on June 1 with their production of contemporary off-broadway hit ‘The Mad Ones’.

Played to a sold out audience the cast of four featured Catrin Street-Madox, Ashlea Allen, Becca Butler & Adam Hodges, who are all regular performers within the Wrexham arts scene.

The Mad Ones is a one-act musical telling the story of Samantha Brown, balanced on the edge of her future, car keys in hand.

As she sits in the driver’s seat, she faces a choice.

will she follow in her mother’s footsteps, or take the dare of her impetuous best friend and chart a new path?

Callum Thompson, who had previously been MD for a production of The Mad Ones in Birmingham, led the musicians on Keyboard, with Wrexham Symphony Orchestra principal violinist Mark Lanson on violin, Angharad Huw on harp and Jack Taylor on guitar.

Gemma Williams, Trustee of WMTS, said: “For our first show in 17 years, we couldn’t have hoped full theatre, an electric atmosphere and such talented cast, musicians and crew, it really was a night to remember and hopefully one that kicks off a new legacy for WMTS”.
