Breaking news: Anthony Rizzo has been suspended for 8months from the team of new york yankees today due to….Read More..

If you had to shine the spotlight, however, on just one single aspect of the team that has excelled, you could maybe say it’s the rotation, just for the fact that they rarely have had true dud performances. That being said, they sometimes have some less than stellar ones, like on Saturday night.
In the first couple innings, Carlos Rodón was clearly a bit off his game, as the Red Sox were able to jump on him for some hard hits and a bunch of early runs. While he eventually settled down to not make it a truly awful game, the damage had been done. The Yankees’ offense couldn’t catch up to what had been allowed, and had a bit of a down game themselves, leaving nine runners on base. The meh-ness in both aspects allowed Boston to down the Yankees in the second game in Fenway, as Bombers fell, 8-4.
After the Yankees failed to do anything with a Juan Soto walk in the first, the Red Sox scored off Rodón quickly in the bottom half of the opening frame. Jarren Duran started things off with a fly ball off the Green Monster, and Tyler O’Neill did the same two batters later to give Boston a quick run. Following a walk, Connor Wong then squeezed through a single, and Jamie Westbrook added yet another hit off the Monster, as Rodón toiled and allowed three in the first.
The Yankees did answer back immediately with a couple runs in the second. A Giancarlo Stanton single and an Anthony Rizzo walk gave them a pair of baserunners before Cooper Criswell bounced back with two outs. One of the outs was a grounder that moved both runners up a base for DJ LeMahieu. While it was hardly the hardest hit ball you’ll see, LeMahieu managed to get a single to drop in, scoring both runners to get the Yankees on the board.
