Even though Miguel Cabrera is retired, he still plans to participate in spring training.

On Tuesday, the future Hall of Famer made his way to Lakeland to start serving as the Tigers’ special assistant. According to MLB.com, he appeared to be in playing condition as he made throws at first base while sporting baseball attire, a cap, and a hoodie.Miguel Cabrera returns to Tigers spring training, but in a new role - mlive.com

However, the 12-time All-Star, who has 3,174 hits and 511 home runs, has also stated that he had no plans to return from retirement.
“I feel fantastic. In baseball, I think I gave it everything I had,” Cabrera remarked. I can say, “Okay, that’s enough,” at this point. I didn’t want to declare I could play baseball no longer and quit. No, I am unable to play at all. I’m done with baseball. Softball and volleyball.

A few days prior to the conclusion of his incredible 21-season career, Cabrera’s new position was revealed in September 2023. Although his job will probably change, he is expected to work with minor league players and the hitting coaches.

The franchise announced last season that he might work on the field during spring training, visit the big-league club or minor-league affiliates during the season, and provide advice to the front office, coaches, and players.
