Which coaches and programs excel in the area, and which could be better? We talked to eight high school head coaches across the Kansas City area, representing both public and private schools, for their perspectives. They were granted anonymity in exchange for their candor.
The thing I like about coach Leipold is he’s a true football coach. It’s not this glitz and glamor they tried the last couple with Charlie (Weis) and with Les (Miles).
Not that they weren’t good coaches, but I felt like those guys were at the tail end of their careers. Leipold is a guy that you could tell is hungry, and I hate to say younger because he’s not a young coach. But a hungry guy wanting to do great things.
