Teden Mengi’s signing to Everton is intended to serve as Jarrad Branthwaite’s replacement.

According to Football Transfers, Everton is keeping an eye on Teden Mengi, a defender for Luton Town, as they compile a list of potential replacements in the event that Jarrad Branthwaite is traded this summer.

Mengi is reportedly likely to depart Luton at the end of the season and is drawing interest from European teams like Bayer Leverkusen, according to a report published on May 6.

Given their financial situation, Everton is looking to get a good return on the defender, therefore Branthwaite is also probably going to leave.

Mengi only had two first-team appearances for Manchester United, both coming off the bench in European play, before joining Luton in the summer.

Before moving permanently to Luton in 2021–2022, the 22-year-old was given a few restricted opportunities to play on loan at Birmingham City and Derby County in 2020–2021 and 2021–2022. In his first season, he has impressed.

Indeed, Everton had the opportunity to evaluate him as recently as May 3, when the two teams drew 1-1 on Merseyside.
