On a recent episode of the “Go Long Podcast,” Cleveland Browns guard Wyatt Teller made a surprising comparison between Deshaun Watson and Mahomes ahead of the 2024 season.

Teller was quick in his praise of Watson, with the pair set to be teammates in 2024 as the Cleveland Browns hope to finally challenge for the Super Bowl.

“I would love to say he has glimpses of Patty Mahomes,” Teller said.

“Patty Mahomes is a once-in-a-lifetime guy. He’s insane. He has great outlets, great receivers, and a great defense.

“He is the truth. I believe that Deshaun has that. I truly do.”

Comparing Watson to Mahomes is bold, considering Watson hasn’t played at an average level in four years.

 Mahomes’ consistent excellence sets a high bar, and he has team success on his side as well, winning three Super Bowl titles already.

Mahomes has had an outstanding career, backed by strong support from his team, making him the standout quarterback.

If we consider Watson’s physical skill set and his past performance with the Houston Texans, there could be a conversation, but he hasn’t been able to recapture those performance levels in so long that it is difficult to consider him the same player.
