The move to waive Barclay Goodrow was one that sent shockwaves to members of the New York Rangers.

Goodrow was highly respected and loved in the Rangers’ locker room, which is why it was sad for some players to see him go.

Chris Kreider had a tough time processing Goodrow’s departure as he opened up about his feelings on Thursday.

“It’s difficult to articulate,” he said Thursday, per The Athletic’s Peter Baugh.

“That’s the awful side of our business, I guess: That it is a business.

It’s a friend for life, but it’s a guy you expected to be suiting up with again.”

By waiving Goodrow, the Rangers were able to get rid of his $3.64 cap hit for the next three seasons, but did so in a cutthroat way.

According to The New York Posts’ Larry Brooks, Goodrow was not happy about how this whole situation unfolded since the Rangers reportedly only informed him about his release at the last second.

Kreider has been with the Rangers for over a decade now and has seen a lot of players come and go, so his words about the Goodrow move speaks volumes.

Trivigno served as captain for the University of Massachusetts prior to being signed by the Rangers.

He spent the entirety of the past three seasons with the Hartford Wolf Pack in the American Hockey League.

This past season, Trivigno recorded four goals, 12 assists and 16 points in 49 games.
