Worst nightmare: Just now The Kansas City Chief’ Legend pass away at 28….RIP

The training camp injury bug hit the Chiefs hard this week and offensive lineman Wanya Morris left Friday’s practice with an apparent injury.

Morris was working at left guard after seemingly losing the starting left tackle job, though his versatility and experience is still critical for Kansas City’s offensive line overall.

He left the field riding on the front of a cart, a much better sign than if he were on the back of the cart, though the severity of his injury is not yet clear.

After Kansas City lost several players to various ailments throughout the week, Morris’ could wind up being among the most significant.

Mike Caliendo stepped in for Morris following the injury.

The nature of the position means injuries are common, so it’s critical to have quality depth for when these situations arise.

That’s what makes Morris’ apparent new role so important.

Tampa Bay dominated Kansas City in the Super Bowl because of a rash of injuries, and the Chiefs committed a healthy amount of resources to ensure that’d never happen again.

Morris is part of that equation. Kingsley Suamataia should be the starting left tackle, but it appears that the team is preparing Morris to serve a similar versatile role to Nick Allegretti’s in previous years.

Allegretti started in Joe Thuney’s place during the Super Bowl and it’s possible Morris could find himself in a similar situation down the line.
