Dimitrov won the Brisbane International at the start of the season, his first title since the ATP Finals 2017.
He also finished as the runner-up in Marseille and Miami.
He advanced to the quarterfinals of the French Open and the US Open and was eliminated in the fourth round of Wimbledon.
The Bulgarian’s other notable results this season include fourth-round appearances at the Indian Wells Masters and the Italian Open.
He also made the semifinals in Rotterdam.
Dimitrov, meanwhile, has registered 40 wins this year against 15 losses.
He has a 28-9 record on hardcourts, and has a 22-4 record against players ranked outside the top 50 this season.
Halys, on the other hand, has a 1-11 career record against top-20 opposition.
His only win came last year against Alex de Minaur at the Miami Open.
He came quite close to securing his second win at Wimbledon this year but let go of a two-set lead against Holger Rune to lose in five sets.
Dimitrov won his maiden career title here back in 2013. He reached another couple of finals over the years and lost to Tomas Berdych in 2014 and Juan Martin del Potro in 2017.
Dimitrov also has a 7-1 record against players from France this year. His results this season, his prior history in Stockholm, along his positive record against lower-ranked players, all point toward his victory over Halys.
