Tragic Loss: Arkansas Razorbacks Star die in a Car Cr…..

Arkansas redshirt-junior quarterback Taylen Green has earned national recognition after being named to the Davey O’Brien Award Great 8 List and selected as a Manning Award Star of the Week following his standout performance in the Razorbacks’ 58-25 win at Mississippi State.

Green was phenomenal in the Razorbacks’ second SEC road win of the season, completing 23-30 passing attempts for 314 yards and a career-high five touchdowns while rushing for 79 yards and a touchdown on eight carries. He was the first Arkansas quarterback to throw for five touchdowns and rush for a touchdown in a single game since Ryan Mallett accomplished the feat against UTEP in 2010. Green’s five touchdown passes are tied for second-most nationally in a single game this season, and he is one of two Power 4 quarterbacks to throw for five touchdowns and rush for a touchdown in a single game this season, joining Cade Klubnik of Clemson. It also marked the 13th time in Green’s collegiate career that he had thrown for at least one touchdown and rushed for at least one touchdown in the same game.

Through the air, Green became the first Arkansas quarterback to throw 5+ touchdown passes against an SEC opponent since Brandon Allen threw six in a win over Ole Miss in 2015 and just the fifth quarterback in Arkansas history to throw for five or more touchdowns in a single game. Under Green’s guidance, the Hogs posted 673 yards of total offense during the win, eclipsing the 600-yard mark for the third time this season after doing it just four times total from 2018-2023.

Joining Green on the Davey O’Brien Great 8 Award Watch List were Max Brosmer (Minnesota), Dillion Gabriel (Oregon), Colton Joseph (Old Dominion), Riley Leonard (Notre Dame), Maddux Madsen (Boise State), Marcel Reed (Texas A&M) and Shedeur Sanders (Colorado).

The Davey O’Brien Foundation was created in 1977, and the National Quarterback Award, the oldest and most prestigious college quarterback award, was first issued in 1981. Over its time, the Davey O’Brien Foundation has given away more than $1.3 million in scholarships and university grants to help high school and college athletes transform leadership on the field into leadership in life.
