With the Boston Bruins being in “win-now” mode for multiple years, GM Don Sweeney has not been afraid to trade first-round picks for players to help the club’s roster in the present.
Because of this, the Bruins’ prospect pool is considered by many to be among the worst in the NHL.
Although this is the case, that does not mean they have no promising youngsters in their system.
For example, 2024 first-round pick Dean Letourneau has the potential to become an impactful NHL player, even though he needs a few years of development before making the jump to the B’s.
He is not the only notable prospect in the Bruins’ system, though.
At this juncture, 2021 first-round pick Fabian Lysell is viewed as the club’s top prospect, and he has gotten significant praise.
In a recent article for The Athletic, Scott Wheeler ranked the top 100 drafted NHL prospects, and Lysell was the lone Bruin who made the list, securing the No. 88 spot.
Seeing Lysell crack Wheeler’s list is not particularly surprising.
While the 21-year-old winger has not made the jump to the NHL just yet, he has the potential to become an impactful player for the Bruins shortly.
The skilled winger has been trending in the right direction with his development.
