During its wintertime rest, they say a bear can slow its heart rate to just a few beats per minute.
Not sure who took a stethoscope into the den, but assuming we’re getting solid info, a few beats per minute is what we call shutting it down.
As for organizational behemoths, NASCAR has also been known to enter a bear market.
This past week’s pulse rate was so slow, we had to venture uptown to Formula One to find enough signs of life to get us through the gears with the latest weekly update.
While a couple of American race teams continue navigating the court system with their antitrust lawsuit against NASCAR, the F1 boss says, “Hold my chardonnay” and shows the motorsports world how a heavy hand looks, or at least sounds.
And though it might not sound like a stop-the-presses news item, in some ways it’s big stuff.
That’s right, we’ll finally get a fairly accurate attendance figure from a NASCAR race. And soon!
