Sad News: Detroit Lions head coach and three key players dismissed after….

There’s a natural balancing act when the pads go on for the first time in training camp.

The fundamentals, the technique, the details coaches harp on during the ramp-up period tend to, well, take a backseat.

There’s a level of excitement when hitting begins.

Players are eager to prove themselves and impress their coaches, which can lead to some mistakes, initially.

Dan Campbell laughed about it on Monday.

But rest assured, he didn’t think it would last long.

Detroit Lions defensive end John Cominsky was carted off the field with a right knee injury on Tuesday when the team had its second padded practice.

The 6-foot-5, 285-pound Cominsky started all three of Detroit’s playoff games after starting 11 of 16 games in the regular season.

He was credited with two quarterback hurries in the postseason, helping the NFC North champion Lions win two playoff games in the same postseason for the first time since 1957, and two sacks in the regular season.

During an early team portion Goff showed why having a veteran signal caller that’s seen everything is such an advantage for a team with high aspirations like the Lions.

Goff got to the line of scrimmage and didn’t see what he liked from the defense so he killed the play and got them into another one that was perfect for the defensive look Aaron Glenn’s unit was showing.
