A lot of people wrote them off coming into tonight, including me. Liverpool were supposed to run through them again.
But no, despite having a decimated squad, Spurs put in a performance to be proud of to take a lead going into the second leg at Anfield next month.
However, the game wasn’t without controversy.
Lucas Bergvall netted the winner for Ange Postecoglou’s side, but there is a debate being had over whether he should have even been on the pitch.
Nevertheless, he was, and now Liverpool have a lot of work to do if they are to make it to Wembley.
Anyway, it’s now time for me to shoot off guys, I hope that’s OK with you all.
As always, I have thoroughly enjoyed covering the footie for you guys. Always a pleasure, never a chore.
Tottenham have not had a lot to get excited about this season, but they certainly have had fun tonight.
As I said before, I don’t even think the Spurs fans thought they would win tonight.
Only a month ago they watched their side get battered by Liverpool, but not this time.
Tottenham have now won four consecutive League Cup matches for the first time since the 2014-15 campaign.
Guess what happened that season? That’s right, they made the final.
That win also means Tottenham have never lost a home first leg of a League Cup semi-final tie in seven such matches.
All the signs point to Wembley, it seems.
