Struggles on the defensive end were the story of a 138-113 loss to the Minnesota Timberwolves Thursday night, as Utah gave up 111 points over the final three quarters of the game.

Despite shooting 50.6 percent from the field and 41.2 percent from beyond the arc, the Jazz couldn’t keep pace with Anthony Edwards (36 points and 11 assists) and the Timberwolves.

However, a matchup against a struggling Orlando Magic team could be just what Utah needs Saturday afternoon as the four-game homestand continues in Salt Lake City.

Orlando (24-25) has gone 2-8 over the last 10 games, as the team’s 29th-ranked offense continues to cause issues for Jamahl Mosley’s squad.

The Magic have been able to overcome injuries to key players such as Paolo Banchero and Franz Wagner this season by relying on the league’s third-ranked defense.

Orlando’s offensive struggles come in a few areas, but none are more noticeable than the team’s inability to knock down shots from deep.

The Magic take a healthy number of shots from beyond the arc (36.5 per game, right around the league average), but have only connected on 30.5 percent of those attempts, the lowest percentage in the league by over two percent.

In the first meeting between the teams, the Magic got up 47 attempts from three, but only converted 29.8 percent of them as their offense struggled to score against the Jazz defense.

Orlando’s offense is more centered around attacking the basket, as 34.2 percent of the team’s overall shots come from within four feet of the rim, the sixth-highest frequency in the league.
