JUST NOW: 22-year-old shot to death inside Tuscaloosa apartment; suspect jailed

An overnight shooting in Tuscaloosa left one man dead and another jailed.
Tuscaloosa police were dispatched just after 11 p.m. Saturday to Creekwood Village Apartments at 1750 40th Avenue on a report of a shooting.
Tuscaloosa Violent Crimes Unit Capt. Marty Sellers said officers arrived to find 22-year-old Marquise Scott dead inside an apartment. He had been shot multiple times.
Investigators identified the suspect as 25-year-old LaGabriel Jones. After speaking with witnesses and Jones, they charged Jones with murder.
He is being held in the Tuscaloosa County Jail without bond pending an Aniah’s Law bond hearing.
Sellers said Scott and Jones were acquaintances who had problems with one another in the past.

Investigators said the child had been alone with Crumel, who was identified as the mother’s boyfriend, when they believe the injury occurred. Kennedy said Crumel could give no explanation for how the injury occurred.
At the time, Crumel was charged with aggravated child abuse and committed to jail with no bond.
