Milwaukee Brewers outfielder/second baseman Jackson Chourio is one of the most exciting young players in Major League Baseball.
The right-handed hitting Chourio, who just turned 20-years-old on March 11, started the season as the Brewers center fielder.
The Brewers are so confident of Chourio’s future, they recently signed him to an eight-year, $82 million contract, which runs from 2024-2031.
According to fangraphs.com, Chourio’s contract payments will be as follows.
The Brewers have tacked on $25 million team options for 2032, and 2033.
Chourio will receive a $2 million buyout if the Brewers choose to decline their options.
The Brewers bought out six years of team control, including what would have been Chourio’s first two years of free agency.
MLB.com has ranked Jackson Chourio as the second best prospect in Major League Baseball.
Chourio ranks only behind the Baltimore Orioles Jackson Holliday.
A shortstop at the time, the Brewers signed Jackson Chourio as an international free agent out of Venezuela in January 2021.
The Brewers gave Chourio a $1.8 million signing bonus.
Chourio’s younger brother, Jaison, is a very highly regarded outfielder in the Cleveland Guardians organization.
