When the NFL Draft’s first round gets underway in Detroit on April 25, the Atlanta Falcons will have the eighth pick. In the seven-round draft, the Falcons will have eight total picks.
The Falcons made a major splash in free agency when they signed three quick but inexperienced wide receivers, Darnell Mooney, Rondale Moore, and Ray-Ray McCloud, and signed veteran quarterback Kirk Cousins to a four-year contract worth up to $180 million. Atlanta’s defensive needs are still quite apparent.
He is anticipated to take a shot at either cornerback or edge rusher in the first round. The Falcons own the eighth pick overall, but since Minnesota (No. 11), Denver (No. 12), and Las Vegas (No. 13) are all possible buyers, that pick has a lot of trade value. Atlanta should be the clear favorite in the NFC South if it can select a few defensive starters in the draft.
