College football enters a new territory this fall.
The sport’s expanded playoff field will lengthen the season significantly, with some teams potentially playing upwards of 17 games.
With that expansion, and with offensive efficiency continuing to soar, record books will be rewritten all over the country.
At Georgia, quarterback Carson Beck stands to benefit the most.
Georgia will play at least 12 games.
We can assume the Bulldogs will have a winning record, so add a bowl game, bringing that number to 13.
If Georgia makes it to the SEC Championship, make it 14.
If they were to lose that game, but still make the playoff, and make a run to the championship.
The round of 12 would be game 14, the round of 8 would be 15, the semifinals would be 16, and the final would make 17.
You get the picture. Plenty of chances for Beck to sling the rock around.
Beck will also be leading Georgia against a gauntlet of a schedule.
The Bulldogs will face two teams that made the CFP last year in Alabama and Texas and will play a host of other talented teams like Ole Miss, Clemson, and Kentucky.
Like he was for the offense in 2023, Beck will need to be the catalyst for the offense; any success Georgia has will begin and end with him.
There will be tough games, good defenses, and potential deficits Georgia will have to overcome.
All things that lend towards him throwing the football a good deal this coming season.
