Nine Georgia players have entered the transfer portal since the SEC championship game.
Two of the players (David Daniel-Sisavanh and Rara Thomas) in the portal were not with the team during the regular season.
The other seven have not been practicing and are expected to miss the Sugar Bowl.
Most notably cornerback Julian Humphrey and defensive tackle Jamaal Jarrett are expected to miss the Notre Dame game and the playoff. Humphrey and Jarrett were part of UGA’s defensive rotation.
McCray is a native of the state of Alabama, which is an area of the country the Bulldogs prioritize in the recruiting process.
The Dawgs have placed extra emphasis on the running back position this spring following the news that running back Branson Robinson would be entering the portal.
During the 2024 season, McCray carried the ball 117 times for a total of 609 yards and 10 touchdowns. His physical running style would be an excellent addition to the Bulldogs’ backfield should McCray elect to transfer to the University of Georgia.
Regardless if McCray joins the roster or not, sophomore Nate Frazier is expected to receive the majority of Georgia’s carries for the 2025 season.
During his freshman season, Frazier led the Bulldogs in rushing yards with 617 and was an integral part of the team’s eight-overtime victory over Georgia Tech.

After dropping the opener 13-3 that featured a seven-run outburst in the ninth, the Bulldogs reeled off two straight 7-6 wins including a 12th-inning walk-off home run by senior Henry Hunter on Sunday.
VU posted a 4-3 walk-off in 10 innings of Lipscomb Tuesday.
Last weekend, the Commodores avoided being swept by No. 18 Oklahoma in Norman with a 13-2 victory in eight innings.
