ESPN REPORT: Milwaukee Brewers announced that first baseman Rhys Hoskins he is leaving today after significant issue in the team….
April 3 – The Minnesota Twins defeated the Milwaukee Brewers 7-3 on Wednesday afternoon after Ryan Jeffers hit a game-winning three-run home ball with two outs in the top of the seventh inning.
The five-run rally that Minnesota used to overcome a 3-1 lead was completed by Jeffers’ bomb. After back-to-back doubles by Alex Kirilloff and Byron Buxton to start the frame, Carlos Correa knotted the game with an RBI single.
Four of the runs were attributed to Milwaukee reliever Joel Payamps (0-1), who recorded only one out. The fifth run was pinned on Bryse Wilson, who set up Jeffers’ home run.
Daniel Duarte (1-0) earned the victory after pitching two innings of one-run relief.
Kirilloff was 4-for-4 with two runs and a walk, just one home run short of the cycle. Both Jeffers and Buxton contributed two hits apiece for the Twins, who split the two-game series with Milwaukee.
The ninth inning saw a run-scoring single by Jeffers to close off the scoring.
The Brewers missed out on a fourth 5-0 start in team history despite rookie Jackson Chourio hitting his first major league home run. Sal Frelick was 2-for-3 with a run, and Rhys Hoskins also went deep.
After loading the bases with one out in the first, Milwaukee set itself up for a huge inning, but Hoskins grounded into a 5-4-3 double play to end the inning.
But in the second, Brice Turang drove home Frelick with a sacrifice fly to put the Brewers ahead.
When Manuel Margot bunted with the bases loaded and beat third baseman Joey Ortiz’s throw to first, it appeared as though Minnesota had tied the game in the fourth inning. But Margot was out, and the inning was over after a successful Milwaukee challenge determined that she was.
When Hoskins homered to start the fourth and make it 2-0, the reversed call hurt even more.
In the fifth, Carlos Santana grounded into a forceout to cut the Twins’ deficit in half. Towards the end of the inning, Chourio responded with a solo shot.
Joe Ross, a starter for the Brewers, gave up two hits in three and a half scoreless innings while making his major league debut in 2021. Chris Paddack of Minnesota allowed two runs on six hits over the course of four innings.
