With only one practice left before game designations for Week 11, the Detroit Lions continue to be shorthanded on the offensive line. Starting left guard Jonah Jackson sat out practice for the second day in a row with what’s listed a both an ankle and a wrist injury.
Jackson played without any visible incident in Sunday’s win over Los Angeles, but he had missed the prior few games with a high ankle sprain. With Halapoulivaati Vaitai now on I.R., fifth-round rookie Colby Sorsdal is the top reserve guard now that Graham Glasgow is in the starting lineup at RG.
Jackson was joined on the sidelines by defensive tackle Isaiah Buggs, who is out with an undisclosed illness.
They are the only two players who missed due to injury. Center Frank Ragnow got his customary veteran rest day on Thursday after being a full participant on Wednesday.
Three players who were limited on Wednesday were full-go on Thursday.
DT Levi Onwuzurike and S Ifeatu Melifonwu were back on defense, while WR Kalif Raymond did the same on offense.
The Detroit Lions welcomed back a trio of key players to their offense in Week 10 against the Los Angeles Chargers. However, one of those players has already returned to the injury report.
Offensive guard Jonah Jackson did not participate in the team’s Wednesday practice due to wrist and ankle injuries. He had missed the three games prior to Detroit’s Week 10 win over the Chargers.
Isaiah Buggs also missed the first practice of the week due to injury.
While the Lions are overwhelming favorites to defeat their NFC North rivals in the Bears this week, the team has observed in its film studies that the Bears are still playing hard.
Dan Campbell expressed that the team is not overlooking the Bears despite their 3-7 record.
In their last four games, the Bears have gone 2-2, and are expected to have their starting quarterback return to the lineup Sunday.
“They’ve got length, they’ve got size, they’ve got quickness, they move a ton.
This is a stunting defense,” Campbell explained to reporters. “They’ve got a ton of different looks coverage wise, and I think, when you’re able to play multiple coverages, you have length, you play with speed and you move, it creates problems.
It can create problems. If we can’t handle their movement up front, it’ll be one of those long days for us. And why?
Because they play so hard. This team plays hard, and they finish on the football. This is gonna be a test, it’ll be a test for us. But, it’s a test that we accept.”
