AM SORRY: Reason why I must leave Wolverines…

On Thursday, Michigan received official notice that Northwestern offensive lineman Josh Priebe would be transferring to Ann Arbor in 2024. But as the transfer portal giveth, it also taketh away.

This afternoon, it was reported that true freshman corner Cameron Calhoun and fifth-year senior linebacker Joey Velazquez would be entering the transfer portal. Both will still be eligible to play in the Rose Bowl and can ultimately withdraw their names and return to the Wolverines next seasons.

Calhoun is a former four-star recruit (per 247Sports composite) who showed flashes of potential in practice during his brief time with the Wolverines. Coming out of high school, Calhoun had several good offers and will more than likely find a home with a team he already has a prior relationship with.

Velazquez will be transferring with one year of eligibility remaining, but has left his mark in Ann Arbor. The former three-star recruit is a two-sport athlete (football, baseball) who will leave Michigan with eight varsity letters and four Big Ten championships (three in football, one in baseball).

The Michigan Wolverines now have a total of four players in the transfer portal:

Running back C.J. Stokes

Running back Leon Franklin

Cornerback Cameron Calhoun

Linebacker Joey Velazquez
