Very bad News: St George Illawarra Dragons head coach angry and announced resignation immediatel…

St George Illawarra will head into next season with more questions than answers, with new head coach Shane Flanagan facing an uphill battle to turn the struggling club around.
After years of top-eight finishes, grand final appearances and premierships, the Dragons have become of the NRL’s sleeping giants and 2024 presents them with an opportunity to return to the promised land.
The side will kick off their season with back-to-back away games in Queensland, with a large chunk of their home fixtures coming towards the end of the year, while the annual Anzac Day clash will be a major highlight.
All teams across the NRL will play 12 home matches throughout the 2024 season, with the Dragons splitting their fixtures between Kogarah Oval (five games), WIN Stadium (six games) and Allianz Stadium (one game).
Shane Flanagan’s men will miss out on a trip to Brisbane for Magic Round, while also having timely byes during the State of Origin period in Round 16 and Round 20.
Volkman has signed a one-year contract with St George Illawarra.
He will likely be the side’s starting five-eighth and partner veteran halfback Ben Hunt in the middle of the park.
The Dragons are considerably thin in the halves following the deregistration of Junior Amone and the departure of Jayden Sullivan to the Wests Tigers
“Ronald is a valuable pick-up for us at this stage of the pre-season and bolsters a position where we are currently in need of some more depth,” new coach Flanagan said.
“The extra competition for spots will strengthen the entire squad while he also adds depth to our goal-kicking options.”
