BAD DECISION: AM Leaving! Adam Reynolds accepted a deal of $105.5 millions to depart from Brisbane Broncos Today after…

Broncos dummy-half Billy Walters is reportedly set to sign an extension which will keep him at the club until the end of 2026.

The news caps a good week for the Broncos faithful, after five-eighth Ezra Mam signing a five-year extension and halfback Adam Reynolds set to put pen to paper on a deal which will increase his stay another year.

This means all four of the Broncos’ spine, Walters, Mam, Reynolds and fullback Reece Walsh are under contract for 2024 and 2025 as the club aims to make another run at a grand final.

According to The Courier Mail’s Pete Badel, the Broncos have begun extension talks with Walters.

2023 was a career year for Billy, a 61-game veteran and son of Broncos coach Kevin.

After suffering a knee injury at the Tigers, Walters was thrown a lifeline by the Broncos and has so far delivered in spades.

While Walters is the clear cut starter at hooker, there is no shortage of talent in behind him, which include Tyson Smoothy, Cory Paix and teen sensation Blake Mozer.

Broncos assistant coach Matt Ballin says Walters has “been fantastic”.

“When I first came to this club, it was his first year, he had been playing a bit of five-eighth at Wests Tigers and a bit of hooker,” Ballin told The Courier Mail.

“But what I have seen is Billy has applied himself defensively.

“Hooker is a tough position, you are under fatigue the whole game.

“The biggest thing I have noticed is when he defends, he just wants to make tackles, get up there and stop them getting to an edge and he works hard for each player around him.
