How will the transfer portal be utilized by the Wildcats?

Now that college basketball players are beginning to use the transfer portal, it begs the issue of how John Calipari intends to exploit it.

The Wildcats just added Tre Mitchell during the previous portal season, and they added him late due to some problems at West Virginia.

Being in the NCAA Tournament presents a challenge since Coach Calipari must concentrate on the competition rather than recruiting. When this is done, some of the best portal players may select where they will play before the tournament even starts.

Although there are several excellent players on the portal right now, Coach Calipari won’t know the makeup of his team until the end of the season and the players’ discussions with the coaches.

It is still up to the players to decide whether to use the transfer site or to enter the NBA Draft. The way the staff uses the gateway will differ depending on whether a number of guys decide to stay or go.

The Wildcats may yet add a player or two to their recruiting class of 2024, which currently consists of six prospects traveling to Lexington.

Coach Calipari finds it difficult to decide who to add to the portal since he has to know who from this year’s squad will be on the roster the following season.

I think the coaching staff will select one or two players from the portal, and there are always some great possibilities available.
