Report: Malik Williams Signs 10-Day Contract with Raptors
The NBA is finally giving the former Louisville big man a shot.
LOUISVILLE, KY: At last, Malik Williams will have the chance to compete in the NBA.
According to Shams Charania of Stadium, the Toronto Raptors are signing the former big man for Louisville men’s basketball to a 10-day deal.
Williams is currently one of two former Cardinals who are on the Toronto team. Jordan Nwora was acquired by the Raptors from the Indiana Pacers in January of last year as a part of the Pascal Siakam trade.
The 6-foot-11, 250-pound center had been a member of the Sioux Falls Skyforce, the Miami Heat’s NBA G-League franchise, for the previous four months. Williams played in 33 games for the Skyforce this season, averaging 11.1 points, 9.3 rebounds, 1.4 assists, 1.2 blocks, and 23.2 minutes per game. He also shot 32.0 percent from three-point range and 43.6 percent from the field.
The Fort Wayne, Indiana native’s first professional job came overseas with the Polish Basketball League’s Anwil Wloclawek after being undrafted in the 2022 NBA Draft. In thirty-one appearances and Williams averaged 17.7 minutes per game, 8.1 points, 5.5 rebounds, and 0.8 blocks during his 18 starts there.
Williams was the first-ever three-time captain in Louisville program history during his five-year collegiate tenure. In his final year, he had his greatest statistical season, averaging 9.5 points and 8.0 rebounds in 27 games, 25 starts (2021–2022). With 62 starts, Williams played 122 games for Louisville in all. He finished with 876 points, 677 rebounds, 87 blocks, and 52 assists.
