Report: The Minnesota Vikings sign ex-Texans star player for two years contract….

The Minnesota Vikings acquired an additional first-round pick last week through a trade, but the mock draft experts at CBS Sports believe that was only a setup for a bigger deal.

The 23rd pick, acquired through a trade with the Houston Texans, is owned by the Vikings. Although they could wait and select two first-round picks, it’s generally believed that they’ll bundle both selections, along with possibly more, in order to move up and select a quarterback. Sam Darnold was signed by the organization as a temporary substitute when Kirk Cousins left for the Atlanta Falcons in free agency, but he is not the team’s long-term solution.

Since the move, four analysts from CBS Sports have revised their mock drafts. In each of them, the Vikings advance into the top five picks for a QB. The Vikings were already taking a similar action, according to the one analyst who hasn’t revised his mock.

The Vikings are expected by Ryan Wilson, Josh Edwards, and Tom Fornelli to trade to the Los Angeles Chargers for the No. 5 pick in order to choose Michigan quarterback J.J. McCarthy.

Despite winning a National Championship, McCarthy’s numbers are not as impressive as those of the other elite quarterbacks, and he wasn’t asked to lead the offense. He is regarded by many as a quarterback in the second draft class. The top three quarterbacks in each of McCarthy’s scenarios—Caleb Williams, Jayden Daniels, and Drake Maye—are selected before the fifth pick.

The Vikings trade all the way up to pick three, where the New England Patriots are now positioned, according to the other two CBS Sports analysts. It might take some convincing to get the Patriots to relocate, as they are also thought to be in the quarterback market. Both times, the Vikings move up to select Maye, who was long regarded as this class’s No. 2 quarterback before Daniels’ late climb to prominence stemming from his Heisman-winning performance and physical attributes.

The two things these most recent mock drafts show are: The Vikings are known to be active traders, and they will probably need to move up to select No. 3 if they hope to select one of the top three passers. It’s still unclear if general

Kwesi Adofo-Mensah, the manager, is prepared to pay the price to get there.
