Compared to 2023, the 2024 roster has less issues.

Auburn’s culture is still evolving, and one athlete isn’t scared to talk about it.

Payton Thorne, the starting quarterback, is that young man. He made the following remarks at today’s media conference regarding the general sentiment toward the current Tigers vs some of the players who left the team in 2023:

“I was thinking about this yesterday or the day before,” Thorne said. “Every man you kind of become annoyed with…Why do you behave this way?How come you don’t want to be here? Why, exactly, do you not want to work out? and similar things.

Most of those men have moved on. That has therefore been rather reviving. Furthermore, it seems to me that practically every guy in this room wants to be here, work out, and do well on the field. This spring, at practice, the enthusiasm has been extraordinary.”

Scenarios like as the one Thorne is talking about are likely to surface whenever a new coaching staff takes over a failing program. Whatever one does, keep in mind the next two principles as well.

First, it will take years to for the Auburn football team’s roster to really reflect the goals of Hugh Freeze and his coaching staff. It’s There’s still a long way to go in the Freeze era; we’ve only just entered Year 2. It’s fantastic news that the mood and enthusiasm have improved significantly this spring, as Thorne comments.

Secondly, the program Thorne is talking about has a lot of energy, and recruits will notice it. That will be beneficial in the long run. Though Auburn is still far from where it wants to be, Thorne’s candid response is encouraging for the future of the Tigers.
