With the conclusion of the Cardinals’ 2023–24 season, the sophomore becomes the team’s fifth player to depart.
LOUISVILLE, KY: The first five Louisville men’s basketball players to use the transfer site have already been reached.
According to Rivals, Danilo Jovanovich, a sophomore forward, is the most recent Cardinal to enter his name into the portal.
This summer, Jovanovich is the fifth freshman from the Cardinals to access the transfer site. On Monday, the first day of the 45-day spring transfer window, true freshmen forwards Curtis Williams and Kaleb Glenn entered the portal. On Tuesday, true freshmen center Dennis Evans and senior forward J.J. Traynor decided to transfer.
The 6-foot-8, 220-pound forward played his true freshman season at Miami before joining Louisville in the offseason. However, he did not make much of an impression on the floor. Jovanovich participated in 20 games and started five of them, but in 166 minutes, he only finished with 24 points, 22 rebounds, and five assists.
Due to an ankle injury, the Milwaukee, Wisconsin native played in just one game for the Canes during his one and only season with Miami, but he did not record any stats. According to 247Sports Co., Jovanovich was rated as a three-star recruit and the No. 190 player in the Class of 2022.
It is hardly shocking that transfers have flooded in after Louisville’s season ended. After the Cardinals’ 2023–24 season concluded with an overall record of just 8–24 and a 3–17 record in ACC play, second-year head coach Kenny Payne was fired.
