REPORT: The Arkansas Razorbacks key player is been suspended from all sports for placing a bet against….

Head coach of the Alabama basketball team Nate Oats was suggested as a potential hire for Kentucky almost immediately after it was reported that John Calipari would be moving to Arkansas. To dispel any suspicions of a relocation, Oats released a statement on Monday.

The remark was posted on social media by Oats.

“Bama Nation, this team and this university have my undivided attention,” Oats declared. Nothing would please me more than for The University of Alabama to win its first men’s basketball national championship, even though we have already done a lot here. You may be confident that as your head coach, I will pursue that goal in spite of any rumors to the contrary.

The Crimson Tide’s head coach had been mentioned as a possible candidate when the Michigan job opened during the SEC Tournament. At that point, he signed an extension with Alabama.

That extension made it difficult for any other school to poach Oats. His buyout for this season and next jumped to $18 million, which athletics director Greg Byrne said he believed was the highest in the country.

In the end, the Tide lost to UConn on Saturday in the national semifinals. On Monday night, the Huskies take on Purdue in the national championship game.

The initial word of Calipari’s move came on Sunday afternoon. Kentucky and Arkansas have not yet made an announcement about it, but according to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, the agreement is almost complete.
