Cincinnati — The Lions are slated to visit defensive tackle DJ Reader, league sources inform All Bengals. On Thursday, he is anticipated to meet with Detroit.

The veteran, who sustained a torn quad tendon in December, is currently recuperating. Although the Lions have expressed a lot of interest in Reader over the past few days, the Bengals are aiming to re-sign him.

Regarded as the best defensive tackle available, Reader, 29, has signed multi-year contracts with players like Christian Wilkins and Leonard Williams.

Before committing Reader to a long-term agreement, the Lions will likely want to examine him more closely and gauge his physical condition. Although Reader is not the only team interested in him, Detroit seems to have the strongest chance of stealing him from the Bengals and adding him to their defensive line.

The news was initially reported by Malik Wright.
