SAD NEWS: The disagreement between Luton Town head coach and key player leads to….

Nottingham Forest is still three points ahead of Luton Town in the Premier League relegation race after their appeal against their points deduction was denied.

The Premier League punished Forest, who are presently 17th in the table, four points in March for violating the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the 2022–2023 season.

When charges were made against Forest, who exceeded their loss limit by more than £34 million, the Premier League first advised a six-point deduction; however, an independent tribunal recommended a less severe punishment.

The deduction for Nottingham Forest will stay in effect for the final Premier League standings as a result of the appeal being denied.

After 36 games, Forest is now 17th in the rankings with 29 points

Premier League games, with Nuno Espirito Santo’s team defeating Sheffield United at Bramall Lane on Saturday, putting them three points ahead of Luton.

If Forest had received all four points back, their total would have increased to 33, one more than Luton’s possible total of 32, meaning the Hatters would have been demoted.

The Premier League issued a brief statement in which it stated, “The club appealed the PSR sentence on two grounds, and it applied to the evaluation period ending Season 2022–2023. The club contended that the independent Commission made mistakes by failing to consider the sale of a prominent player it had shortly after the assessment period as a mitigating factor and by choosing not to ban the player

It deducted some or all of the points.

The Appeal Board rejected each of these arguments, concluding that the independent Commission had the right to apply the sentence right away. Thus, the four-point deduction will continue to apply.

The final two Premier League games for Forest are against Chelsea and Burnley, while Luton plays West Ham and Fulham knowing that a win will give them a chance to play in the league next year.
