The Melbourne Storm could make a play for Titans star Tino Fa’asuamaleaui according to Matty Johns, in the wake of David Fifita signing with the Roosters from 2025.

Fa’asuamaleaui started his NRL career with the Storm back in 2019, playing 27 games across two seasons before linking up with the Titans in 2021.

The Titans skipper last year signed a bumper ten-year extension with the Gold Coast but like Fifita, has a clause in his contract that could see him depart as soon as the end of the 2026 season.

From 2027, Fa’asuamaleaui, who is out for the rest of the year with an ACL injury, has player options for every season until the end of 2033.

Speaking on SEN, Johns said the Storm are “desperate” to being the 24-year-old Maroons rep back to the club.

“I have no doubt the Melbourne Storm will make a monumental play for Tino,” Johns said.

“When all this stuff was going on… there was talk around that the Melbourne Storm were circling then.

“They’re desperate to bring him back.”

The Sydney Roosters are set to sign winger Daniel Tupou to a one-year extension on the back of Dane Gagai’s decision to spurn a contract offer from the Tricolours and remain in Newcastle.

There were talks that Tupou may either retire or head overseas at the end of this season, however the Roosters will reportedly give a 12-month extension to the veteran according to The Daily Telegraph.

The Roosters will lose a raft of experience at season’s end, with Joey Manu, Jared Waerea-Hargreaves and Luke Keary all leaving the club.
