It took an extra day, but NASCAR’s best and brightest took the stage during this weekend’s FireKeepers Casino 400.
The race — held Michigan International Speedway, one of the more storied tracks on the Cup Series calendars — was about as consequential as it gets.
With just three races remaining in the regular season, the drivers hovering around the cut line find themselves with precious few chances to make their claim for postseason qualification.
Such pressure was felt by Ty Gibbs, Bubba Wallace, Ross Chastain and Chris Buescher, all of whom entered Sunday’s race needing a bit more security for their playoff chances.
