Kansas City Chiefs star running back Isiah Pacheco has a fractured fibula and is using a walking boot and crutches after getting injured in Sunday’s win over the Cincinnati Bengals at Arrowhead Stadium.
Pacheco is expected to miss between 6 and 8 weeks with the injury.
Now the Chiefs are expected to meet with former Kansas City running back Kareem Hunt, ESPN’s Adam Schefter is reporting.
Hunt was previously released by the Chiefs on November 30, 2018 when video surfaced of him assaulting a woman at a Cleveland hotel.
After Sunday’s win, Chiefs coach Andy Reid said the team was waiting on test results, but expected to hear some bad news.
‘The only major injury would be Isiah Pacheco,’ Reid said. ‘He’s having tests on it now — X-Rays all that stuff.’
Reid ultimately backed off giving any specific information.
I don’t actually know right now. I’ve just got to see,’ Reid said. ‘They’re doing all the stuff right now, so I haven’t really had a chance to talk to him or anything about it.’
The win moved the two-time defending-champion Chiefs to 2-0 on the season.
The Chiefs are already without running back Clyde Edwards-Helaire, who is reportedly battling PTSD as a result of an undisclosed incident.
‘Sometimes I’m admitted into the hospital, something like I can’t stop throwing up and it’s just, I [don’t] know [anything] pretty much to stop it,” Edwards-Helaire told reporters in August.
Without Pacheco or Edwards-Helaire, the Chiefs are left with a backfield of veteran Samaje Perine and 21-year-old rookie Carson Steele.
