Congratulations: Penn State’ Head Coach James Franklin Crown 2025 NFL Coach of the Year, Team Revels in Historic Victory……..

Shipley played both offensive and defensive line in Happy Valley, winning the Rimington Trophy given to the best center in the country. He played center in the NFL and was drafted in 2009 by the Pittsburgh Steelers.
The former Nittany Lion played for six different professional squads, spending his longest stint on one team with the Cardinals from 2015-19.
After sustaining a spinal cord injury in 2020, Shipley opted to retire rather than undergo surgery. However, he is still an NFL champion, being a member of the Super Bowl-winning Tampa Bay Buccaneers.
Shipley stayed with the Buccaneers as an assistant coach in 2021, but left the position and has since appeared on The Pat McAfee Show and co-hosted “That’s Hockey Talk” before hosting “In The Trenches” starting in 2022.
Fans and media members have been saying it all offseason, but at Big Ten media days, Franklin gave his thoughts.
“Are there more conversations that are going on at a national level about Penn State? Yes, and we appreciate that, and we embrace that, and it’s a sign of respect people see all the hard work that a ton of people have put in,” Franklin said. “But let’s also be honest … preseason polls and rankings, what do they mean? They don’t mean much.”
Indeed, the college football world has taken notice. Penn State is a consensus top-five team, ranked No. 1 by experts like Phil Steele, Joel Klatt and ESPN’s Mark Schlabach, and sitting fourth in national championship odds, just behind Texas, Ohio State and Georgia, per FanDuel.
