While he did not say Melo is the most overrated player in the NBA, former All-Star guard Jeff Teague recently explained why the youngest Ball brother is playing great basketball but is not affecting the outcome of games for his team. According to Teague, it’s because of how LaMelo’s basketball career was charted

“I love LaMelo’s game, but I don’t think he’s ever played winning basketball before,” Teague said recently on his “Club 520” Podcast.

“So I don’t know if he could lead a franchise like Ja Morant because he hadn’t had experience.

He went from high school; basically, he went a different route. He played high school with his brothers, where Lonzo and them led that team.

Then he went on a whole new circus. He never really had to be a leader of a squad or take over a team. His AAU team lost all the time. It was just always a show.”

Last season, LaMelo fans were upset after he did not make the Eastern Conference All-Star team.

Ball was the top vote-getter among Eastern Conference guards, but not only was he not named a starter, but the coaches did not choose him as one of the reserves.
