Another eventful week for former Florida baseball players making noise in the majors is in the books, as both veteran star and young talents continued to leave their mark.
Pete Alonso carried the Mets’ offense with a scorching hot bat, delivering timely home runs and crossing the 100-RBI mark in the process.
Wyatt Langford showed off his power-speed combo against the Blue Jays, belting his 17th home run of the season while continuing to be a spark in the Rangers’ lineup.
Brady Singer has turned a corner for the Reds, flashing ace-like form in a dominant outing against the Phillies. Meanwhile, Jonathan India displayed his clutch gene yet again for the Royals, Harrison Bader brought reliable defense to Philadelphia’s outfield and Jac Caglianone worked back from a hamstring injury that has slowed his rookie season.
All told, it was a week that reaffirmed the Gators’ presence across Major League Baseball.
Alonso’s bat caught fire this past week, as he hit close to .370 over a seven-game stretch with two home runs and eight RBI. He also crossed the 100-RBI mark for the season while climbing to 28 homers. Even in the midst of ups and downs this summer, Alonso has shown that he’s capable of carrying the Mets’ offense with game-changing swings.
