BREAKING NEWS: The Head Coach of Alabama has terminated his employment with the team following a background debate with…….

After a brief tenure with Alabama football, Jayden Hobson is no longer with Alabama football.
The walk-on tight end, who began his career as an offensive lineman at Mississippi State, did not appear on the field Tuesday during the Crimson Tide’s first media practice viewing since Aug. 6.
Hobson was removed from the team’s online roster sometime before Tuesday, and a UA athletics representative confirmed he was no longer with the team.
Hobson was a peculiar case at Alabama, joining up before spring football as a walk-on, after his college career seemingly came to an end when he left South Alabama in August of 2024, with intentions of joining the workforce.
The Tuscaloosa native played his high school football at Hillcrest and Paul W. Bryant. He joined Mississippi State as a three-star offensive line prospect in the 2023 recruiting class.
Hobson did not see the field in his lone season as a Bulldog. He then opted to transfer to South Alabama.
He left the Jaguars after going through spring practice and did not play at all in 2024, his college career apparently over. However, when he popped up on Alabama’s roster ahead of spring practice this year, he was listed at 20 pounds lighter than his Mississippi State playing weight, and had a new position as a tight end.
Hobson joined an Alabama team that desperately needed tight end depth during spring. For much of the way, Jay Lindsey was the only scholarship player at that position for the Crimson Tide, and the group continues to recover from injuries, with Josh Cuevas and Danny Lewis Jr. both not fully participating in practice during observation periods.
However, Hobson still had a lot to learn. During Alabama’s A-Day practice at the conclusion of spring ball, offensive tackle William Sanders was standing in at tight end for some drills, ahead of Hobson.
