The seventh-ranked prospect for the Milwaukee Brewers, Brock Wilken, sustained a horrific injury on April 11. During a Double-A game, he took a fastball to the face and broke multiple bones that required surgery to fix. He returned to the Arizona Complex League team a little over three weeks later.
Brock Wilken returned to action with the Milwaukee Brewers Arizona Complex League team on May 4.
Brock Wilken went 1-3 with a double in his return game. A 97 mph missile that went down the left field line gave him an extra base hit. A fastball hit him instead of striking out after this double.
Wilken’s return to Double-A has not been scheduled; however, he will return as soon as the club feels he is ready. After being struck in the face by a fastball, he may have a mental obstacle to overcome, but he also needs to regain his timing and rhythm after missing three weeks of competition.
