Breaking News: Ex-kentucky steve clinkscale promoted to Michigan Wolverines Defensive Coordinator Role After back- to-back top 20 Defense Rankings…

After missing on a string of cornerback targets over the past few months, Michigan football has added a second commitment at the position after Jeremiah Lowe committed to the Michigan Wolverines on Thursday.

Lowe is a three-star prospect ranked 1,089 overall via the 247 Sports composite rankings. Before Michigan football fans get all riled up, it’s good to remember that the Wolverines have had plenty of success with players ranked like this in the past, such as Rod Moore, who ranked outside the top 1,000 when he committed to Michigan.

Moore is now being talked about as an early-round draft pick and you can bet Ohio State would like to have him on their roster, even though the Buckeyes ignored him in high school.

Lowe was a guy that Steve Clinkscale has been high on for a long time. Clink’s son played with Lowe, so he knows him well and the kid has good ball skills.

Both Lowe and Jo’Ziah Edmond, the other 2024 cornerback commitment, that flipped from Purdue, are projects. They need to be developed, but the Michigan Wolverines have proven they can do that and while you don’t want too many upside takes, U-M made the best of a tough situation.

Michigan football projected to play Alabama in CFB Playoff

Looking ahead to the 2023 Michigan football season, many, including myself, have predicted the Wolverines to get back to the College Football Playoff.

You can count CBS Sports among those that expect that to happen as Michigan football is among the four teams the Network projects in the playoff. U-M is projected to face Alabama in the Rose Bowl, while Ohio State and Georgia will have a playoff rematch in the Sugar Bowl.

This seems totally plausible, especially if the ACC, Pac-12, and Big 12 champions all have at least one loss, but it depends.

Ohio State would need to win the Big Ten or have its only loss be a close one at Michigan for this to happen if the Wolverines won the Big Ten again.

Alabama and Georiga would need to each be undefeated going into the SEC title game, or at least one of them, and the team with one-loss would need to pull the upset.

In short, I don’t see it happening…it would be must-see TV if it did.

More preseason award watch lists for Michigan Wolverines

It’s insane how many Michigan football players are on preseason award watch lists, but the number keeps growing and did so once again on Thursday as Junior Colson, Michael Barrett, and Will Johnson were added.
