Novak Djokovic sadly announce the death of his…..

Djokovic passed Nadal’s Grand Slam tally after defeating Casper Ruud in straight sets to win the 2023 French Open.

Back in October of that year, Nadal claimed that Djokovic would have been frustrated if he did not end his career with the most number of majors to his name.

“‘I’m not frustrated for a simple reason – within my possibilities, I’ve done all I can to make things happen for me,’ Nadal told Spanish outlet Movistar.

“I think Novak feels more intensely [about] this than I do.

Had he not achieved it, it may have been a bigger frustration for him. Maybe that is why he did it.

Djokovic and Nadal produced some of the greatest tennis matches of all time.

Arguably the first of their all-time classics came in the Madrid Open semi-final in 2009. In a match that lasted over four hours, Nadal came from a set down and saved match points before recording an epic 3-6 7-6(5) 7-6(9) victory.

Just under three years later, Djokovic and Nadal duelled for nearly six hours in a gruelling Australian Open final.

The Serbian outlasted his rival 5-7 6-4 6-2 6-7(5) 7-5 to claim his third title at Melbourne Park and start one of the greatest individual seasons in tennis history.

The following year, Djokovic faced Nadal in the French Open semi-final as he pursued a first title on the Parisian clay.

Nadal trailed 3-1 in the final set, but he battled back to claim a heroic five-set win and go on to win his eighth French Open title.
