Atlanta (Ga.) Westlake Top 247 four-star receiver Travis Smith Jr. was back in Athens this weekend to visit the University of Georgia. As expected, things went well for the 6-4, 191-pounder from the class of 2025.
While in town, Smith hung out with Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei four-star receiver Marcus Harris and Alpharetta (Ga.) Milton four-star receiver CJ Wiley, two top priorities for the Bulldogs in the class of 2025.
Georgia freshman wide receiver Sacovie White was arrested early Saturday morning on misdemeanor charges of reckless driving and “one way roadway” after being stopped by Athens-Clarke County Police. According to the official jail log, White was booked in the Clarke County Jail at 3:04 a.m. on Saturday morning and released exactly one hour later on bonds totaling $26.
“He made a mistake by turning down a one-way road. What I’m proud of is that there was no drinking or speeding involved that I would have been disappointed in obviously,” Steve Gates, White’s high school coach, told the Athens Banner-Herald. “But a traffic violation that occurs on the regular, bet he won’t go down that road again.”
White is coming off his first spring as a Bulldog after signing with the team in December. He ended spring practice on a high note by catching 2 passes for 29 yards and 1 touchdown, the score coming on a 26-yard catch that gave the Black team the lead with just under five minutes to go in the scrimmage.
