Former Cardinals outfielder called up by the White Sox amid offensive struggles
A guy from St. Louis is back in the major leagues

The St. Louis Cardinals’ faltering offense is currently their main selling point, but things could be worse—they may end up as the Chicago White Sox.

In almost every significant offensive measure, including hits, home runs, batting average, runs scored, and OPS, the White Sox are in last place.

The White Sox have summoned up a former St. Louis outfielder from the minor leagues in an attempt to infuse some energy into their lineup.

Tommy Pham is an experienced outfielder, and the White Sox are picking his contract, sources told Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times on Friday. Kevin Pillar was assigned by the club to create space on the roster for him.

During his five seasons with the Cardinals, Pham batted.271 with 150 extra-base hits, including 51 home runs, 149 RBIs, and a.828 OPS.

Pham was selected by St. Louis in the 2006 draft at the tender age of 18, and he played in the minor leagues for nine seasons before to making his Major League Baseball debut in 2014 with the Cardinals.

Since arriving in the event, Pham has logged

a.259/.351/.435 slash line throughout ten seasons played, including his eleventh this year, with 130 home runs and 876 hits.

After playing for the New York Mets in 2023, the 36-year-old ended up with the Arizona Diamondbacks, but in the offseason, he was granted free agency. It wasn’t until earlier this month that Chicago signed the veteran outfielder.

The Cardinals made a smart decision by declining a reunion with Pham, even if he succeeds with the White Sox. Tommy Edman and Dylan Carlson should be back soon, and St. Louis has a ton of good outfielders who are sure to heat up.
