Netflix recently teased its 2025 content slate, with a nearly 3 minute long video, titled “You’re Not Ready.” The video hinted at the comeback of beloved series like the third and final season of Squid Game, Wednesday Season 2, and fresh comedies such as Tina Fey’s The Four Seasons, inspired by the 1981 film penned by Alan Alda, among others. Among the long list of shows that were teased in the video was Building the Band, one of the final projects ex-One Direction member Liam Payne worked on. Following the singer’s death, Netflix had long debated when and if to release the performance reality program at all.
Liam Payne tragically passed away on October 16, 2024 after falling from the third-floor balcony of his hotel in Buenos Aires, Argentina. Payne was 31 when he passed away. The inquiry into his death was anticipated to wrap up in four to five days; however, it extended for weeks, causing a delay in the authorities returning his body to Payne’s father. Payne’s funeral took place on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, at St Mary’s Church in England. It saw the presence of all One Direction members, Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, and Louis Tomlinson, with fans describing it as the “saddest reunion ever.’ In January 2025, the official cause of his death was confirmed as polytrauma following an inquest.
