the 30 other NFL teams that watched from home are back in action, so to speak. The offseason is officially underway, and even without actual football games, the schedule between now and April’s NFL Draft is packed. The Vikings are in a tricky position – after a half-decade of contention in the NFC North, all three of their division rivals are teams on the rise, while Minnesota faces a lot of pressing questions about the direction of this current’s rosters core. So if the Vikings want to stay afloat in the NFC North and make a run at a Super Bowl next season, here are three moves they’ll need to make this offseason.

 LVIII is in the rear view, which means the 2023 NFL season is closed. Now, it’s officially on to the off-season for the Minnesota Vikings, and the rest of the league.

How do the Vikings fill their biggest needs over the next few months? It all starts in free agency and by looking at their own group of impending free agents.

There are a handful of specific moves the Vikings can make in order to launch themselves back into contention in 2024.

Now, these are moves Minnesota can make relatively soon, with free agency coming up in about a month. For the sake of this topic, we’ll keep the 2024 NFL Draft off-limit.

The Vikings currently have $24 million in cap space for 2024, with other moves they could make in order to free up additional funds. The majority of their cap space, though, should be used on a couple of moves we’ll address later on.

Minnesota desperately needs some help on the interior of their defensive line and, while many would like to point to the connection between Brian Flores and Christian Wilkins, the Vikings likely won’t be able to afford a guy like that.

So, it’s best they look a tier or two down the free agency list, and go after Indianapolis Colts free agent defensive tackle Grover Stewart. The 30-year-old is one of the better run defenders at his position and would fit in very well with this Vikings defense.
